    Gaze Heatmap

    A gaze heatmap is a 3D visualization that aggregates where users directed their attention inside an immersive scene, projected onto surfaces or volumes.

    Gossip Analytics derives attention from headset orientation and forward vectors — not from raw eye-tracking hardware. This works on every Meta Quest, Pico and Android XR device, and avoids the privacy load that eye-tracking carries.

    Gaze heatmaps can be rendered against fixed surfaces (walls, dashboards, product shelves) or as volumetric density fields when the scene is dynamic. They are one of the most citable outputs of XR analytics because they replace weeks of qualitative playtesting with a single visualisation.

    Why it matters

    For immersive teams, gaze is the closest proxy to attention available on standard hardware. A gaze heatmap tells designers where users looked but never interacted, and where they interacted without ever really looking — two distinct failure modes that are indistinguishable in web-style event analytics.

    A training simulation shows the safety warning panel highlighted with a strong gaze cluster, but the completion rate for the associated task drops 40%. The heatmap points at a comprehension failure — the copy is being read, not misread — and the fix is content, not layout.
