WebXR
WebXR is the W3C standard that exposes VR and AR rendering and input to web browsers, enabling immersive experiences delivered as ordinary URLs.
WebXR matters for distribution: no store review, no install. Analytics for WebXR must work in a JavaScript runtime, respect browser privacy budgets and account for highly variable hardware.
WebXR is particularly relevant for marketing experiences, product configurators and B2B demos where the friction of installing a store-listed app is unacceptable. Analytics platforms that support WebXR natively can capture the same behaviour signals as a native SDK, at the cost of some sampling fidelity on lower-tier devices.
Why it matters
For teams evaluating XR without committing to a native platform, WebXR is the fastest path to a measurable pilot. Being able to instrument a WebXR experience with the same analytics as a native Quest app is what allows studios to prototype in the browser and then port to native without losing continuity in the dashboards.
Example
A furniture retailer publishes an in-browser AR configurator. WebXR analytics captures how many users placed the sofa in their living room and how long they rotated it before adding to cart. The same events are later reused for a Quest B2B showroom app, keeping the reporting comparable.
