Spatial Computing
Spatial computing is the use of computing systems that understand and operate inside three-dimensional space, blending physical and digital environments.
Popularised by Apple's Vision Pro launch, the term overlaps heavily with XR. In analytics, spatial computing emphasises mixed-reality scenes, passthrough environments and the blending of virtual content with real-world geometry.
Spatial computing analytics adds a new dimension compared to purely virtual XR analytics: users interact with real objects, real lighting and real spatial anchors, which means the analytics stack has to be able to reason about scene understanding, anchor persistence and mixed-reality UI adoption.
Why it matters
As enterprise deployments shift from pure VR to mixed-reality workflows (frontline enablement, remote assistance, hybrid meetings), analytics has to track behaviour that spans the digital-physical boundary. Spatial computing analytics is the vocabulary teams use to make sense of that hybrid behaviour.
Example
A field-service MR app measures how many technicians pin a manual as a spatial anchor next to the equipment they service, versus reading it as a floating window. Anchor-pinned usage correlates with 22% faster task completion, informing the default UX in the next release.
